Built from 20+ years of coaching teams.
I coached basketball for over twenty years, and I can tell you this: the most talented roster does not always win. The team that trusts each other, communicates, and holds each other accountable beats it more often than anyone expects.
Business works the same way.
Culture is the secret sauce of organizations that overachieve. It decides whether people:
And here is the part that surprises people. Culture is not what you put on the wall.
Culture is the sum of behaviors your people allow and repeat.
That’s it. Everything else supports those two.
Culture drives both. People do better work for teams where expectations are clear, relationships are solid, and accountability feels fair. They also stay longer.
You don’t have to leave it to chance.
When you start leading a team, or when you start a company, everyone is paying attention to what you notice, what you reward, and what you let slide.
Those early signals teach your team what is really expected. Fix a bad habit in week three and it’s a conversation. Fix it in year three and it’s a reorganization.
This playbook helps you use that window on purpose.
“Sean brought our teachers together and reminded us that the culture of our school is based on our behaviors and reactions… I had a last minute hire to our school who needed assistance in getting ready for Open House. With only hours till parents arrived, she had five teachers from various grade levels arrive at her classroom door, asking what they could do. She told me she has never in all her years of teaching had so many people willing to pitch in and support her.”
Lisa Eastridge, Principal, Allen Park
“Sean ran a team building workshop for our entire small pharma company, a company that was a blend of 2 companies that merged during the pandemic… this was our first in-person meeting since the merger. Sean ran a fantastic program that was fun, created bonds between people that had never met and definitely helped create a Winning Team!”
Paula Rusu, VP Operations, LaJolla Pharmaceuticals
A practical plan built around the G.R.E.A.T. culture model:
G is for Goals. Get everyone pulling in the same direction and clear on what winning looks like.
R is for Relationships. Build the connections that make communication easier and teamwork faster.
E is for Expectations. Say out loud what you expect, so no one has to guess.
A is for Accountability. Create ownership and follow through without becoming the team’s nag.
T is for Thanks. Make appreciation a habit, not a holiday.
Hello, I’m Sean Glaze.
I’m a workplace culture speaker, team building facilitator, and author of six leadership books. I’ve worked with Cisco, John Deere, the CDC, Emory University, and Ecolab, and I got my start as a basketball coach, where you find out fast whether a team is actually a team.
My programs are interactive and practical, and people remember them on Monday morning, not just at the event.
“Weeks after the event, our managers are still talking about it. You helped create a better understanding of why our teammates do what they do.”
Renee Silvey, HR Manager
Atlanta Women’s Healthcare Specialists
“It was an absolute honor working with Sean. He was extremely professional in customizing and delivering his message, and the audience was totally engaged.”
– Bronwyn Justice
Accounting Supervisor CBRE
